This is a fairly uniform set of ranges, all Uniplex, Normal, Taper0, and Lineface. They represent the Latin and Greek alphabets, punctuation, and a wide assortment of symbols.
These are the simplest full-sized Hershey glyphs, and as such these ranges might be thought of as constituting the "core" of the Hershey occidental glyph repertory.
Note that these are symbols of Normal size intended for cartography, while the glyphs in the "Cartographic" range are symbols of many types at a size perhaps more appropriate for maps.
The Hershey glyphs produced and distributed by Dr. Hershey are clearly in the public domain. The glyphs produced by others and distributed with the GNU Plotutils are, to the best of my understanding, also in the public domain. The glyph data as transformed and used here by me remain in the public domain as well.
